Principle of the Good Faith
The Universidad de Los Andes recognizes the teaching staff's authorship in intellectual production, as well as the research, the administrative, the technic, the student and the working staff's authorship. In addition the university presumes that the institution has never been involved in infringement of intellectual property rights of third parties. In case of infringement of intellectual property rights the offender is totally responsible for the damages.
Principle of Auctor is Support
In case of conflict or doubt when understanding or applying norms, the most favourable will always be applied to the author or creator of the intellectual property.
Principle of Responsibility
The ideas expressed and spread in the Universidad de Los Andes and shown by all the research, administrative, technic, working and student staff of the university are of total responsibility of their authors and do not endanger the official thoughts of the institution.
Principle of Patrimony Integrity
The intellectual products generated from associated work, contracts or agreements, consultancies or within work ties are considered as part of the patrimony of the Universidad de Los Andes, except when the opposite is clearly expressed.
Principle of Commercialization
The Universidad de Los Andes is able to commercialize the intellectual productions generated from teaching, research and extension activities with the character and effects of an entitled owner of the productions.
Principle of Intellectual Respect
As part of the education values that the university advocates, this institution promotes the honesty, the originality, and the pride that every author should feel for developing the intellectual works, as well as the respect for everybody else's work.
