Our mission

UGI ULA is in charge of managing the intellectual patrimony of the university which is represented by scientific, literary and artistic work. UGI ULA also works in identifying the intellectual patrimony when it becomes concrete with copyright, patents and trademarks. Likewise, this unit of the Universidad de Los Andes helps protecting the works and their rights in agreement with the existing legal mechanisms, and in agreement with the values that make the Universidad de Los Andes be considered as a respectful institution regarding Human Rights, and the principles of commitment, excellence, cooperation, integrity, honesty, loyalty and ethic.

Our vision

The Intangible Patrimony Management Unit of the Universidad de Los Andes must allow in a short term to help researchers, research centers and everyone involved with the research area to develop their work under the most accurate legal procedures available. Furthermore this unit should cooperate with the legal registration of the intellectual product that are result of the researches.

The Intangible Patrimony Management Unit of the Universidad de Los Andes should also cooperate with the search of public and private financial entities and to solve doubts regarding the comprehension of the legal texts and contracts that regulate the researches. The tasks that UGI ULA performs must let this unit be regionally, nationally and internationally recognized as a technic unit specialized in the management of the intellectual property rights of the Universidad de Los Andes.
